Troubleshoot login issues with the Todoist desktop apps

When logging in to the Todoist desktop apps, a new browser tab opens automatically where you’ll enter your account credentials. If you find yourself in a constant login loop between the browser and the app, or if Todoist becomes unresponsive, follow the steps in this guide.

Use the latest version of Todoist

If a new version is available, you’ll see a pop-up in Todoist to restart and update automatically. If you need to manually reinstall and update Todoist for macOS, follow these steps.

Check if pop-ups are allowed

Since the location of these settings change frequently, check the browser help page for the latest steps to turn on pop-ups:

Change the default browser

Change the default web browser temporarily to see if there is a browser-specific issue. Check the support article for your operating system:

Use the magic link

The magic link lets you create a unique URL that authenticates your Todoist account credentials and log in to the desktop apps. Use this link if the prompt to open the Todoist app doesn’t appear, or if you’re experiencing other login-related issues.

Uninstall Todoist and delete application files
